"Every judicial nominee with 51 votes should be given a chance for an up and down vote, as it has been throughout our history." (as close as I caught it)
The Republicans simply do not play by any rules. We need to get in their face about lies like this, just as Harry did to Orrin at Salt Lake the other day.
And we need to try to drive a wedge between moderate senators and the conservative leadership, letting them know we know that these are flat out lies, and call them on it. I'll be calling Gordon Smith, R-OR, tomorrow first thing.
Same press conference, Mitch McConnell, another bald-faced lie: "We need to get back to the way we operated for 214 years whereby every nominee with majority support received an up or down vote."
Mitch claims the filibusters started last year, another bald-faced lie. What about the filibuster in 1992 on Paez? For more on the real historical background to quote to your senator see http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/25/opinion/main683182.shtml
No more lies, no more lies! If you have a R senator, call him and tell him you are sick of the lies.
