On November 3rd, the conservative Tulsa World newspaper in Tulsa, Oklahoma published a preliminary tally for county results for the Presidential election:
http://www.tulsaworld.com/TWPDFs/2004/Final/A_10_11_3_2004.pdf
While Bush was clearly winning the state in this tally, Kerry was leading in 57 counties, in some cases by significant margins. Examples:
Pushmataha County: Kerry: 2,869 Bush 765
McCurtain County: Kerry 6,450 Bush 1,840
According to the "final" results posted on CNN, however, those counties ended up like this:
Pushmataha: Kerry: 1,934 Bush 2,862
McCurtain: Kerry 3,684 Bush 7,472
In fact, Kerry not only ended up losing every single one of those 57 counties, but he lost 37,982 votes at the same time President Bush gained a whopping 393,825.
Either Tulsa World simply invented their preliminary numbers, or there is clear evidence of vote tampering in the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma was always going to be a Bush state, but it seems perhaps the margin (or mandate, if you prefer) was not going to look quite so favorable.
