A new Ipsos-Public Affairs poll reported in that liberal rag
Bloomberg.com, reports that 51% of Americans do not favor an activist justice who would overturn Roe v. Wade.
Fifty-nine percent said Bush should choose a supporter of Roe v. Wade, while 31 percent said they want a nominee who will try to overturn the decision, according to the poll. Support for Roe v. Wade was seen among both men and women, across most age and income groups, and in urban, suburban and rural areas, AP said.
The Ipsos poll also indicates that Americans really want to know where future justices stand on the Choice issue. They surveyed 1000 adults by phone and found that 60% wanted to have the future Justices position revealled during the nomination process.
Clearly the presidents message of ending Judicial Activism is reaching the masses, (though not in the way he intended). The public clearly wants to leave Roe v. Wade alone.
Now will the President get the message? That is somewhat doubtful, but we must remember the public is on our side here, and by a wide margin (nearly two to one).
I'm not sure how, but people on dKos much smarter than I, can see how we can use this public support to thwart Bush's anti-Choice nominiees.
