Please note the question. Not when Will we, not hypothetically. We have already been there. We're well and truly a parody of ourselves and have been for some time.
My question is when did we become s far gone that an outsider could no longer take us seriously.
The Newt counter-revolution? The Clinton "scandals"? Nixon? Reagan?
Or was it later.
While I have been pushing the Dems to get off their duffs, for the last year or more here, and much longer in other ways, it should be obvious to even the most naive among us that we have already lost the big battles.
The press will publish ANY lie, no matter how blatant, and as long as it is ant-liberal, it is wrong to even question it. The rule of law ceased being applicable at the VERY latest under Clinton if not before.
Hell, WAL-MART lost money last week after thanksgiving, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CUT PRICES ENOUGH. In a time when our nation is literally in its death throes, and not only are we still accounting only by money, but we act like everything is alright even as screwed up as Wal-Mart has made us.
Homeland security has zero to do with making us more secure and everything to do with controlling us, the most corrupt, morally bankrupt administration in the history of the United states, Pulled a long string of documented frauds and squeaked out the closest electoral win in more than a hundred years, and calls it a mandate, and to add insult, claims he won on MORALS.
And we pretend that the fraud does not exist, does not matter, or CAN be resolved through the system. A system so FUBAR that the thugs are using it to dismantle itself.
After some SPECTACULAR failures for deregulation, and ABSOLUTELY NO SUCCESSES, even qualified the ONLY political reform on the table is more deregulation.
After clear evidence that 25 years of Tax cuts for the wealthy have destroyed our once prosperous land, and a recovery FUELED by increasing Taxes to the wealthy, the ONLY accepted economic system is MORE OF THE SAME.
The fact that Bin Laudin was still alive and able to create a video tape was ARGUED PERSUASIVELY as a good thing FOR BUSH????????????
I can go on, but I think my point is made.
In every way imaginable we are a parody of ourselves, and even here, we refuse to admit that.
