Despite some earlier hopes that the US would accept some form of a compromise on the climate change treaty, the Bush administration has made it crystal clear that we are not going to work with the rest of the world to reduce CO2 emmisions.
From the Beeb:
"The US has told a UN conference on global warming that it has no intention of re-joining international efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The chief American negotiator at the conference in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires ruled out any move to sign up to the Kyoto Protocol for years."
And the reason? Bad Science.
"He (Harlan Watson) told reporters that efforts to cut emissions were based on bad science."
...
"He was scathing about the way the rest of the world was approaching climate change, arguing that the Kyoto agreement was a political document and not based on sound science."
Bah! Science is just toooo reality-based, you know. It's so 20th Century. This bunch of lunatics probably believes that they can create their own planetary reality. We don't need no stinkin' carbon cycle!
We also don't need Kyoto.
And, we don't need any stupid ABM treaty.
Nook-Lu-Lar Test Ban Treaty? Who needs it?
