Since the first gulf war and maybe before, Saddam was often compared in the media with the ancient Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, and that Saddam even saw himself in light of this ancient king. Seeing the pictures of Saddam on television today I was reminded of Nebuchadnezzar's humiliation, as recounted in the Biblical story of Daniel. In that story, the Babylonian king:
...was driven away from human society, ate grass like oxen, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven, until his hair grew long as eagles' feathers and his nails became like birds' claws.
Of course, the moral of that story is that Neb finally turned himself towards the Israelite God in acceptance. The moral of the present, as told by the media, is that now that Saddam has been captured, all opposition, from the insurgients, to the European leaders who won't forgive their debts, to the Democratic candidates who have been attacking Bush Almighty, will subside.
Do you think Bush is now invincible? Do you think this will affect the Democratic race?
