While it is tempting to be doctrinnaire on a fundamental issue like a woman's right to choose, I believe the Dem Party should make a pragmatic choice and not get embroiled in the bizarre charge of murder against the Utah woman who declined a c-section despite being adivsed that she was putting the fetuses (twins) at risk.
The thing is that I believe the law is clear here, the prosecution violates Roe. It is a non-starter. The lawyers can win this one in a walk.
But the politics, ugh. Apparently the woman declined because she did not want a scar. Now, I don't know what was in the woman's mind, but defending her is a hard sell and a political loser period.
So, my counsel is, let the lawyers take care of it. Don't hand the GOP a political hammer.
