After the publication of cartoons which depicted Muhammad with a bomb and a burning fuse on his head, the Muslim world erupted in protests. Today, those protests turned from threats of violence into actual violence, as Syrians burned the embassies of Denmark and Norway.

First, the irony: if the cartoons were intended to imply that Muslims were more likely to commit acts of terror, these rioters just provided evidence to support this idea. But I've already started to hear talk of why their actions may be too much, the anger is understandable. Bullshit. Nothing about this is understandable---these groups are worse than our home-grown Christian variety. Not even Fred Phelps' group is going around torching gay bars.
I think we've taken a large step toward full-scale clash of civilizations today. It seems as though Muslims as a whole reject the idea of free speech if they find it offensive (as I Jew, I don't much care for the crap they print about Jews, but I don't torch buildings), while the West sees it as a necessary part of a free society.
Syria should be placed under an embargo until they publicly apologize, pay for the damage, and compensate the families of anyone who died. I don't care that it might have been citizens and not the government; the government is charged with protecting these buildings.
