I received this email this morning, and I thought it would be something of interest to all of you on DKos:
On January 20th, Inauguration Day, Let the World Know: Bush Does Not Speak or Act for Us
On January 20th, the day that Bush is inaugurated, we must send an undeniable message of opposition to this administration and its entire agenda. All around the planet and throughout every corner of our country, it must be made clear that Bush does not speak or act in the interests of the great majority of people here and around the world, that the direction of this government is profoundly immoral and illegitimate and that there is a resistance that refuses to be stifled and swept under the rug. We are growing and we are determined not to stop until we forge a different future. The world needs to hear that people in this country will not acquiesce to these crimes committed in our name.
Resistance on January 20th must be visible throughout society. There is a real need for marches, rallies and civil disobedience. Yet we must reach out even more broadly into society to make resistance accessible to all who recognize the danger of these times. January 20th can be a chance for people to re-energize and re-commit to doing all that can be done to stop this course of war and repression.
Plans for this day include a massive convergence in Washington, D.C., a call for people lining Pennsylvania Avenue to turn their backs on Bush as the motorcade passes, a white-ribbon campaign signifying the grief and mourning we feel over the deaths caused by the Iraq war and marches and rallies in cities across the country. It is our hope that these actions will be strongly supported and attended while many more forms of protest will be brought forth by various groups and individuals. We imagine work stoppages and school walkouts, outdoor gatherings, newspaper ads, teach-ins, street theater, creative expressions from artists, people across the U.S. and the world shouting the word NO at 2:00 p.m. as Bush is being sworn in, as well as many other activities.
Not In Our Name is eager to work with all to plan a day that will galvanize and mobilize people to act on January 20th. Everyone's activities, including the many already planned, will be linked and popularized on Not In Our Name's and other websites, promoting and amplifying every act.

I have several other emails that I will post over the next weeks. Groups are organizing to bring people to D.C., and many cities are staging their own protests.
This email calls for civil disobedience but most do not. I will keep everyone posted.

Another topic briefly: the pharmaceutical industry meltdown, currently noted in one of the new diaries posted. Months back I diaried Dr. Matthias Rath: www.dr-rath-health-foundation.org, and the administration's protection (Bush's largest corporate sponsor) of an industry that is responsible for killing millions of people (the 4th leading cause of death in the US). Ensuing class action product liability lawsuits will dwarf those of the tobacco industry. According to Dr. Rath, the pharm industry is actually not a health industry but an investment business, eager to discredit safe natural remedies and therapies as they are not patentable; their real business is maintaining diseases for financial gain. The first withdrawal was Baycol; now, with Vioxx, Celebrex, and more, numerous lawsuits will be forthcoming. Dr. Rath believes that 9/11 partially halted the meltdown (since then the administration has worked hard on capping patient lawsuits) and only WWIII, which would require tremendous amounts of pharmaceuticals, can bail them out.
Keep in mind the news articles a few months back about Bush wanting mental health screenings for everyone in the US? Remember the line in one of the cholesterol drug commercials that states, "millions more need treatment?" Now Strattera's marketing warns "8 million need treatment."
This administration will stop at nothing to keep their corporate sponsors rich and protected - at our expense. January 20th is the perfect time to tell them all that we are not buying it!
