HELENA - The Montana Supreme Court ruled 6-1 Tuesday that Constitution Party member Rick Jore did not win the race for Lake County legislator.
The decision gives victory to Democrat Jeanne Windham and puts the Democrats in the majority of the state House of Representatives.
Democrats now claim control of both House and Senate, as well as the governor's office. Before the November election, Democrats held no major positions of power.
The Lake County race had been declared a tie and Gov. Judy Martz broke the tie by appointing Jore. That decision gave Republicans a slim control of the House, with 50 Republicans, 49 Democrats and one Constitution Party member.
Tuesday's decision puts the House in a tie, with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats. In this circumstance, House leadership is awarded to the party of the governor, Democrat Gov.-elect Brian Schweitzer.
Montana has been called a red, conservative state. We did overwhelmingly vote for GW, but Democrats also swept into power across the board in the state races. We have the House, the Senate and the Governorship.
While nobody predicted this sweep, don't forget that we have been dealing with corrupt republican policies for years. We are tired of these SOBS and their useless dumb-ass ideas.
Mr. Burns and Mr.Rehberg (our Republican Senator and Rep)should know that we are coming for them next.
Now we have some work to get done!
