If there are any members of the xtian right in the audience I was hoping you could help clarify something for me. Now, as I understand it, you fundamentalist types are against pre-marital sex, I get that. You're also like, really opposed to gay sex. Fine. Combining that logic wouldn't pre-marital gay sex be a sort of double sin? So in some sense, wouldn't the sinfulness of gay sex be mitigated somewhat by the fact that it at least wasn't pre-marital? I know that logic isn't exactly the strong suit of extremist Christian thinking but stay with me for a moment:
Say pre-marital sex has sinfulness score of 4 and gay sex has a sinfulness score of 7. Now, married gay sex -while still bad, still baad- is at least only a 7 instead of an 11 (4 for premarital + 7 for gay = sin score of 11). So, by opposing homosexual's right to get married, aren't you contributing to a cumulatively greater amount of general sinfulness in the world?
That is to say, a certain amount of gay sex is going to take place, but by allowing marriage innumerable 11's will be reduced to 7's and the collective sinfulness score will drop. Now that I think about it, marriage will probably result in less gay sex in general. I mean, let's face it, the intercourse drops dramatically after the wedding. Thus you'd not only be dropping a lot of 11's to 7's but also a bunch of potential 11's to zeroes.
