Someone in my family met a girl and he's really crazy about her. Of course, I asked if she's a Democrat or a Republican because that would either make her selfish or stupid but probably not any more stupid than the Democrats who don't know why they vote Democratic or the Democrats who think Kerry did a good job.
As the conversation went on, he said she grew up Republican and her father, a very successful businessman is a really good person because he makes donations and even heads a foundation. He said he probably feels that if you work hard, you should get to keep it and I feel that way too. He's a budding entrepreneur who I believe voted Democratic.
Even though I think being a Republican is a character flaw, we still have to answer these questions. I think we should get to keep most of what we make is so easy to say and then the burden is on us to pulverize or negate what they say. We need short answers or at least ones that will be understood quickly. It just so happens that this guys sister is a little pissed off that she's earning not so much and with SS, withholding tax (Fed, State & City), $250 for medical each month and $15 to $25 co-pays, she's paying about 45% tax. So she has no patience for the wealthy who pay 15% on dividends.
So, what are your suggestions about how to answer, I work really hard and I think I should keep most of it?
