I read this on a blog, but it bares repeating...
"In other news, Earthlink has now outsourced all of its tech and customer support jobs -- including that of my wife -- mostly to what Lou Dobbs calls "cheap overseas labor markets," i.e., Pakistan, India, the Philippines and Jamaica.
If you have an Earthlink dialup account and would like to switch to something less robber-baronish, a good alternative is redjellyfish.com, which has a decent price, donates a portion of that price to rainforest preservation via the Nature Conservancy, has a good privacy policy and doesn't outsource anything outside the USA. (BTW, neither my wife nor I are in any kind of cahoots with this company; friends were asking, so we researched the matter for them. I'm sure there are other good small companies out there too!)"
I currently have AOL...and have hated them since I got them. I unfortunately keep them because I haven't felt a need to go elsewhere yet. I had thought of switching to Earthlink since I had used them before and loved them, but now, I won't be going with them.
So, this got me thinking, what other companies are out there that are progressive and I can use for dial up service, long distance, shopping, internet hosting, etc...? So far, I know of Working Assets (my long distance and cell provider) and now, I just found SnowAccess for snowboarders. How many others are there and what charities do they support?
