George Bush now "proposes" to make legal the illegal US residents who work by handing out Guest Worker permits.
I wonder what happens to guest worker families? Bush zeroed in on the workers, not their familiars. Will the non-workers be sent back to wherever? Is that the way the Bushies plan to guarantee guest workers go home?
Apart from these little questions, please recall "No Child Left Behind." The Great Leader has hornswoggled the un-American minority, by agreeing with their words and using them as bait. Then, like MSN's butterfly, he pulls the lever, sending them down the chute.
The trick is nothing in the fine liberal words of "No Child Left Behind" requires the Administration to do anything about it, or the Congress to fund it.
The Republican Medicare law is similarly adjusted to prevent most Seniors from really getting anything. Most of the bottom third (poorest) Medicare recipients wil actually pay more, because MEDICAID is abolished.
Similarly, it pays to parse George Bush's words on Guest Workers carefully. He proposed Guest Worker status to be granted, IF AND ONLY IF THE EMPLOYER DECLARES NO AMERICAN (CITIZEN) WORKERS WERE AVAILABLE TO DO THE JOB. This condition could undermine the whole program. Or, upside down, could be used to undermine Americans seeking better working conditions.
You have to start with the opinion that the George Bush gang doesn't really intend to give the people anything they really want or need.
So, look for the loopholes, weasel-outs and misuses.
