The Main Street America Project is an organization that will help insure our communities from losing their identity to walmarts and box stores.
So many towns across the country are losing Main Street. Rent signs can be seen all over town. Mom and Pop simply cannot compete with those box stores and chain restaurants, so they are closing up shop; a piece of America is gone. But hey, I heard we are getting another Super Walmart next year.
This cannot continue. We must work to preserve our local businesses. They make their money locally, spend it locally and define our town. Healthy local businesses are a blessing, and too few Americans understand that.

Main Street America Project
Those with Main Street America believe that healthy local business is a must for America, and at present, America, is not doing a good job of taking care of our Main Street merchants. We will work towards leveling the playing field between box stores and Mom and Pop, and we will help America reconnect with Main Street.
Actions:
- Visibly solicit for small business - creatively increase their business
- Create a state by state, possibly by large city database of local businesses
- Develop a think tank to communicate with local business and to bring their issues to the forefront. Citizens for Main Street America or Main Street America Project.
- Legal Defense fund for small and medium business to fight corporate privileges that kill local commerce.
- Develop a Main Street America activist network to help local businesses grow in their community.
