Indiana's new governor, Mitch Daniels, tonight unveiled his plan to close the state's $600 million budget deficit.
In his first State of the State Address, Daniels, not surprisingly, said he wants to cut programs that serve the poor. But he's also calling for sacrifices from the rich.
More below the fold.
Daniels is calling for a tax
on the top 5% in Indiana. It'll only last for one year, but it's a rare time a GOP office holder has the guts to ask for shared sacrifice from all.
Daniels was known as "The Blade" when he was W's budget director. Can we hope he's starting a trend? Has he learned lessons that his old boss didn't?
