The Senate Foreign Relations Committee Democrats looked Condoleezza Rice in the eye and told her flat out that the American people are pretty darned worried about the war in Iraq. And they told her Democrats are no dummies: They know she misled the public about the non-existent weapons of mass destruction. They know she doesn't have a clue how we're going to get out of this mess. They know she's lying when she says things are going swimmingly, that tens of thousands of Iraqis are being trained to replace us, that peace and democracy are just around the corner. Lies, all lies.
Yessiree. They are wise to her.
And then...
In the final dramatic moments of the hearing, Senator Joe Biden, ranking Democrat, takes the stage. Would she please, pretty please, tell her boss that things aren't going so well over there? Please.
And then he voted to confirm her. So did all the other Democrats except Barbara Boxer and John Kerry. Something about the president having the right to have his own team. And wanting to work with Condi for a better tomorrow. Oh, and there's her inspiring life story.
Pathetic.
One half expected Condi to flip Biden the bird and laugh hysterically on her way out the door.
When are these guys going to start behaving like an opposition party? Their job isn't to work with Condoleezza Rice. Their job isn't to let the president have his way. Their job is to oppose.
Come on guys: Just say No!
