How do Kossacks feel about the Space-Program?
Is it important to spend enormous sums of money to explore space & develop science, or should the money be spent on domestic programs for people here on Earth?
One of this country's greatest achievments was going to the Moon. My father's generation thought that by now, we would all have flying cars & taking trips to Mars. With no competition from the Russians & other concerns taking precedence, there is no way to justify spending hundreds of billions of dollars on sending 10 guys to Mars. To me, the biggest argument for space travel is humanity itself. The survival of our species. At some point the big rock or comet from ARMAGEDDON could come along and "86" all life on the planet. Also, at some point humanity itself could make a mistake (Nuclear War, Environmental Catastrophe, etc.) that could doom life on this planet. With the space program, at least we (humanity) may have a chance to go on...
