Dear Senator Lieberman,
Just when I thought I could not feel more betrayed by your vote of Condoleeza Rice as a Democrat, Connecticut resident and American, you have again outdone yourself by voting for torture, by voting for Alberto Gonzales...
...You were one of only 6 traitorous Democrats who spat on the values of our party to rubber-stamp a man whose policies transformed the United States from a beacon of hope to the world with humane policies to a hypocritical, Saddam Hussein-Doppelgänger that rapes and tortures. You have said it is alright for our brave troops to now undergo the most brutal forms of torture. They can no longer expect to be treated humanely or even humanly, all because you have sold your soul to the fascist Bush administration.
Perhaps, sir, you would be interested in having a meeting with the mothers and fathers of Connecticut soldiers and tell them it is just fine with you that their children be tortured. But then again, you were to busy with sycophantic fawning over Condi and Gonzales to even help Sikorsky to keep its contract for the presidential aircraft.
Funny, too, how you were always so concerned about violence in music but don't care about the violence perpetrated against ordinary Iraqis. Repeat after me: many of those at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo are NOT Al Qaida, just people in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yet they can be tormented and subjected to unspeakable tortures.
I urge you, Senator Lieberman, to just switch parties now. Become a Republican. That is better than you attacking our presidential nominee during the GOP convention for Jeb Bush. If you hurry, you can still co-author some books with Zell Miller. There is still time to be the biggest Judas to your party. You had a good start with the Judas kiss with Bush at the State of the Union, except that you were kissing the Antichrist.
Alternatively, you can accept a position in the Bush administration which your obedience has certainly earned you. Even Christopher Shays in your seat would show more deference to the needs of the people of Connecticut than you.
I lack the words to express my disgust and disappointment.
Yours,
