A troublesome proposal in Alabama has risen its head again-- HB352, the Academic Freedom Act, introduced by Rep. Jim Carns. You may recall conservative David Horowitz advocating the Academic Bill of Rights very loudly the last couple of years? These bills reflect his influence.
Rep. Carns reintroduced it as last year's attempt to pass it failed. This bill is a veiled attempt to allow college professors(and public school teachers) to teach creationism and not be subject to censure. Here is his email if you care to express your concern: jwcarns@yahoo.com
A similar act was considered in Colorado in 2003 which failed.
Do any of you know of a similar bill in your state? I found this one by browsing through the Alabama House Education committee's list of bills.
