The revelation that James Guckert, disgraced White House "reporter", is likely a male prostitute is of little surprise to us who have been following the story.* The faked outrage at gays, the overly-macho demeanor, the whirlwind tour of talk shows swearing to his innocence - Gannon doth protested too much.
So when John Aravosis at www.americablog.org broke the story, complete with a picture of Guckert's Johnson (I wonder if it has a pseudoname too?) us here at the liberal blogosphere weren't surprised at all.
And we won't be surprised in the days to come, as the White House goes on full spin-cycle and tries to wash its hands of the story. Because that's what the Bush Administration does. It fucks up, then plays the victim.
When a scandal hits the Teflon Presidency, the White House claims plausible deniability. Assisted by its other whores--the Right Wing Corporate Media--it takes to the airwaves with furrowed brow and feigned outrage, appealing to the public that scandal after scandal after scandal has occurred without any knowledge on its part. The problem, of course, is that its "plausible deniability" is never "plausible" at all. But in the deceptive spin-cycle, we get this:
We didn't know Al Qaeda was going to attack, even though our administration had FIFTY-TWO warnings about al Qaeda hijackings and even had a memo entitled "Bin Ladin DETERMINED to attack in US".
We didn't know there weren't any WMD in Iraq, even though both international and national reports consistently said there weren't any.
We didn't know dismantling the Iraqi army was the biggest military FUBAR in recent history, even though everyone was telling us it would be.
We didn't know about Abu Ghraib and Gitmo torture, even though Rummy's signature is on the playbook and Gonzales got rid of those pesky Geneva Conventions for us.
We didn't know that our Administration was paying out hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to media whores to shill for us, even though we cut them the fucking checks.
And now...
We didn't know Guckert was a gay prostitute banging people in the tri-state area. We didn't know he was a tax delinquent. We didn't know that the only writing experience he had prior to becoming a "journalist" was likely writing receipts for his johns. We didn't know he was asking softball questions. Honest.
What is clear from these examples is that the White House, in the infamous words of Gannon the Whore, is "divorced from reality." It doesn't expect any blowback because it thinks people will keep buying into the lie that the Administration of the most powerful nation on earth is consistently ignorant and out of the loop.
The only reason the American populace has bought into this warped idea that the buck stops anywhere but Washington is because of the likes of Faux, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the "media." That media that prostitutes itself day after day, giving up the facts and sucking up to sensationalism in the hopes that Americans leave them some ratings on the dresser.
And that, my friends, is why the White House Whore matters. Because Guckert's exposure (in both a literal and figurative sense) is a testament not only to continuing fascist media manipulation by our government, but it also demonstrates how that media--which is supposed to be a government watchdog--just bends over and takes it doggy-style.
At a time when journalists around the nation should be decrying the dilution of their influence and the slow decline of the Fourth Estate, they give Guckert and Williams two minute sound bites. At a time when, given its track record, they should be critically examining every statement by this Administration, they take its word as Gospel.
Why does it matter? It all comes down to one word: Integrity.
From the Oval Office to the office of the Editor-in-Chiefs, there is not an iota of integrity to be found.
Republicans decried the debasing of the Presidency because of a dress stain. Yet Bush has done more damage to the institution of the Presidency than the "Clenis" every did. Integrity? What integrity is there in tricking a nation into war, in refusing to admit to any mistakes, in leaking CIA memos for political gain, in having a prostitute in the White House Press Corps, asking softball questions from the same mouth that probably gotpaid to suck someone off the night before? Is that American integrity?
"Plausible deniability." Like the most sophisticated Secret Service in the world let a tax-evading prostitute--who just happened to a rabid Republican!--slip through the cracks. Like this government, which gets off on running America like it's a police state, didn't examine every single person in that Briefing Room to make sure they don't pose a threat to the Choosen One. Like this administration, who won't let a staffer fart without permission and keeps Bush's environment so controlled it's like he's the fucking Boy in the Bubble, like that adminstration had "absolutely NO idea a hooker was in the ranks!" And the fact that a hooker may have had access to the Plame memo? "Gasp! No idea how on EARTH that could happen!"
Give me a fucking break.
I am sick and tired of the Bush administration disgracing us. Around the world, he's made us look like idiots. For Kurtz and the rest of the media apologists, they just don't get that. They don't get that the world is looking at us, tsk-tsking the fact we let a prostitute represent the us in the President's Press Corps.
And the chance that that prostitute colluded with the President to leak the name of a CIA operative for political revenge? Holy fuck, can there be any more shame brought upon this nation?
Shame on you, McClellan. Shame on you Rove. Shame on anyone and everyone who was complicit in this revolting mockery of open democracy.
* This rant assumes, for the sake of ranting, that Guckert is indeed a prostitute, as americablog.org suggest he is. He may not be. The chances of that, IMHO, are slim to none, but hey, I know when I have to cover my ass. At least I let you guys know about it.
