I wanted to let those of you who are interested know that the interview I did with the OKC affiliate for CBS on blogging and the media will air Thursday morning during the 6-7 a.m. slot. That's the good news...
I probably should have known after the interview was over and the reporter proceeded to bash Dan Rather that I wasn't going to like the results. Well, this morning I saw the preview for the Thursday segment: it will focus on blogs and the media, but specifically on the CBS memo incident.
Did the reporter ask me anything about this? Nope. Does she have an axe to grind? You bet. She spent about 5 minutes complaining about how because she works for CBS, people thinks she works with Dan Rather (don't flatter yourself, please) and that his behavior reflects poorly on her. She believes he should have stepped down years ago and that his actions are costing CBS viewers. Well, there are so many other issues with MSM today that are costing them viewers, but that would require admitting that the MSM isn't doing its job - and so many journalists are obviously incapable of this.
I did, however, have several opportunities during the interview to criticize the MSM and explain how blogs fill the gaping hole left by lousy journalism (and plug several of the great blogs out there). I am curious to see if ANY of that made it into the interview, or is she will just edit me to create an oppportunity to bash Dan Rather. I'll let you know on Thursday...
Oh, and I tried to work in the "monkey with cue cards could do your job" line, but the camera wasn't on.
