Bush's trickle-down economic system is working. He cuts taxes, doesn't see a spending bill worth repeal, runs up the deficit, then calls Democrats tax and spend liberals. Meanwhile, on the home front the states are bleeding to death.
Ironically, the very states that elected him are hurting worst. My home state of Mississippi is fanatically attached to W. They will not tolerate any disrespect (i.e. disagreement with) our great leader. They see no connection between the president's disastrous policies and the fact that our state has to make drastic cuts in every state service.
They bellow "No new taxes." Then they moan, "But you can't cut our programs." Traditionally, we are a state that gets more in Federal money then we pay in taxes. And no one seems to understand that every tax cut is money that won't come to Mississippi. People want to live like Democrats when it comes to government services. But they want to pay for it like Republicans (without taxes). What they don't understand is that the first cut in services under President Bush will always be services to the poor and disadvantaged. The ownership society is only open to those who already members.
