Anyone who lives in a small town knows the effect the "Left Behind" book has on apathetic minds--they tend to grow smaller.
Many people take this end-of-times fiction to be completely true. Now, Lehaye is touting a franchised military book series authored by Mel Odom: "Apocalypse Dawn," "Apocalypse Crucible" and "Apocalypse Burning."
I do not believe Lehay and Jenkins are all that original because I have a Spire paperback also entitled, "Left Behind." According to the information provided on the book, it was written by a woman named Olive Ruth Brown Pattison. Copyright date is 1969.
The Library of Congress catalog number is: 73-85311. I found the book in a box of old books and it immediately caught my eye because people are always telling me I should read the bestseller. I finally did--and I read Pattison's paperback. There are numerous similarities. Character names have been changed, but the plot is standard. The promo on the book says, "Raptured! Where did they go? Now he was...Left Behind."
The paperback also has the two prophets at the wailing wall that people hear speak in their language. There are many other
amazing coincidences. I'm trying to find out if Pattison is alive. It may be a pen name. Lehaye was the 1981 founder of the CNP. His wife Beverly is the founder of the Concerned Women for America.
