Outraged!
Im sick about what the Tx House of MY state did tonight. This is worse than anything they have done yet...
The Tx House has tonight voted narrowly for house bill 3. this bill brings new woes for the poor and middle classes. the question lies-will there ever lie any consequences for these legislators and state officials who pushed this monstrosity? any? worse-the bill will not increase funds for education, turning our state into one of pure regression. the sales tax has been hiked and expanded. even diapers were to be taxed, but dem rep hochberg of houston at least reversed that with an amendment. but now we must sit with hard facts: the expanded "franchise" tax is so great that the IRS has now classified this as a personal income tax. yes-that is right-the I word comes home to texas. a great many will have to fill out new paperwork next year. taxation on water, long a forbidden fruit here, is a go. there is no "tax relief" or "education fund increase." instead the tax system just became one even worse for the poor, worse for families struggling with medical bills and food, and most worse for our children and teachers. Many do not give a damned. They just dont. I guess if you have read up to this point that you do care. I do not care here who is the democrat or republican here in office. What I do care is that a restoration occurs in Texas. I want Texas to be the proud state it once was, not the horror it seems to be becomming. Im disgusted with the "system" here. I want changes . The following figures need to be defeated in re-election:
1.) Governor Rick Perry. This "miserable failure" cannot govern, unless its for getting bills through for the rich or redrawing congressional lines for crooked Tom Delay. He must be defeated. Moderation at the top will do some good for everyone else. The hopes lay in few: Sen Hutchinson, whose policy I do not totally agree with, but is a strong potential candidate to knock out Perry. Strayhorn, who today rallied with some 1,000 school teachers in a blistering attack on the policies of the leadership of this state. At least she has the courage to speak out in a high profile way for the educators, students, poor and middle class who face new calamity with the passage of these bills. Rep.Bell of Houston would be an excellent candidate as well. A true independant fighter as councilman and congressman he certainly gives me a glimmer of hope for the Democratic Party.
2.)Every single represntative who voted for this sham bill. All must faces inner party and outer party challenges. Why do I feel Im being too idealistic here? I also call for a direct challenge to Rep Al Edwards of Houston. He is the only Democrat who voted for this monster tax policy which will destroy the fabric left for education in Texas. Rep. Edwards represents parts of Meyerland and a large chunk on the black community. Sick.
More and more, but I wont rant on. SO Texas has the "I" word now. Gee, if the Democrats were in power they'd be impeached.
