When I heard Danny Goldberg was taking over Air America, I was thrilled. From reading his book "How the Left Lost Teen Spirit," it was clear he understood the importance of reaching out to those who are still forming their political identities and loyalties.
So this morning, I was disappointed to hear Air America broadcast this ad. The ad's message goes something like this:
Parents! Do you hate your children? Tired of them standing up for themselves? Call us and we'll show you how to break their will and make them more subserviant.
Any youth who heard that ad would think this strict father garbage is connected to the liberal viewpoints heard on the station, and would be turned off from the left -- just as they're forming their life-long political identities.
Goldberg, of all people, should understand this much. And any real progressive should understand it is wrong to attack a defenseless minority such as youth. I know Goldberg is new there. He hasn't had time to mold the station yet. But what's he doing right now? Anything?
