Like many here I've been following the Schiavo tragedy closely. (Apologies to those of you who are weary of this debate.) There have been several great diaries and comments, but I've found there are still many people unfamiliar with the real facts of this case.
Let me introduce Abstract Appeal.
Abstract Appeal is the self-described "first web log devoted to Florida law and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals." While not dedicated solely to the Terri Schiavo case, it has a wealth of primary source legal documents and posts dating back to 2003, as well as a detailed overview, history, and timeline. The creator, a Florida lawyer, takes no sides in the debate; he is just presenting factual information and dispelling myths and rumors surrounding it. Here you will find, among other things, the Guardian ad Litem's (GAL) report that some of you have read and many others have heard reference to, but may not have read yourselves.
The lawyer also updates developments in this case almost as soon as they happen, although he rightfully waits until he can personally verify the information. In other words, you won't (or shouldn't) see links to CNN or any other MSM news outlets.
Nearly all the questions that continue to come up in this case can be answered by reading the documents and his analyses. I'm in no way trying to dissuade anyone from posting their own thoughts about this tragedy, but I do feel everyone interested in this case would benefit greatly by reading the documentation here.
I've seen references to Abstract Appeal and links to its URL here and there in diaries and comments but haven't found an entry specifically dedicated to it, even after a search of the Kos site. My apologies if I'm duplicating another entry.
I'm a bit new to Kos and I hope it's not inappropriate to ask that this diary be recommended. It's in no way for my benefit, it's just that I would really like to see this website get greater awareness.
Oh yeah, here's the direct link to the Schiavo page (just wanted to make sure everyone read my entire boring diary before getting to the useful stuff): Abstract Appeal Terri Schiavo Information Page
And now, back to your regularly scheduled Terri Schiavo discussions....
