Words, don't fail me now.
This is an idea I had as I was pumping $2.13 per gallon gas into the tank of my 1992 Paseo and thinking the moment just might be ripe for a paradigm shift.
I'm gonna keep drivin' this rusty, dented ol' bucket till the last shoelace, rubber band and duct tape that's holding it together rots. (Or till we run out of gas.) 'Cause why? 'Cause it gets 43 miles per gallon, that's why.
So why not get some tasteful, color-coordinated paint and just indite that statistic on the back of the car?
43 MPG. I might have to peel off a few bumper stickers to do it, hopefully not any that are actually holding the car together.
Not just to be smug and to gloat over those SUV drivers, but to just possibly get them thinking, as we all sit there in traffic merrily sending our exhaust fumes up into the atmosphere. The moment is ripe to appeal to them. The price of gas has gone up, in my area, 40 cents a gallon in the last month. That's gotta hurt.
What do you think? Are you willing to get out a paintbrush and lay your mileage stats before the multitude? Do you think this might change a few minds?
If you like this idea, please consider recommending. If you don't like it, tell me what the problem is. But be nice about it, eh? Thanks.
Edit: I'm at all surprised that so many Kossacks walk the walk, so to speak, and get terrific gas mileage. But how do you feel about painting your gas mileage on your car?
