Internet TV is going to really shake things up. TV isn't going to die, but how we get our TV is going to radically change. The days of packages from able and satellite are numbered. With access to high speed internet increasing, and with bandwidth increasing, Internet TV is going to become quite practical.
First stage is viewing Internet TV on your monitor or hooking your computer to your TV set.
Second stage is set-top boxes sort of like Web TV, but instead of being meant for viewing web pages, it's more like an Internet Cable Box.
Third stage is when the TVs come Internet-Ready from the factory.
I look forward to the say when I can sit back and turn my tv to the Daily Kos News Network. (just for example) Video is video. It doesn't matter how it gets to my TV set. Right now, I don't need cable to get C-Span, I can get it on my computer. Granted, it's not the highest quality when I open it up full screen, but it's a start.
I think that Internet TV and other new ways of access such as podcasting will put us on a much more equal footing with the Mainstream Corporate Media.
