If you Google "
Miserable Failure", George W. Bush's picture apprears on top of the chart but next on the list is the whitehouse.gov profile of Jimmy Carter. I think the wingnuts may be a little harsh on Jimmy but they really don't have another Democratic president to point to as "
Worst President Ever" and even remotely come close to the "
miserable failure" of George W. Bush. But what made Jimmy Carter so 'Bad' as a President? Was it the restraint he showed when it came to invading other countries? Probably. Was it the high price of oil which caused 'Stagflation'? Could be.
More after the jump.
I don't think good ol' George will ever be known for showing restraint when holding the reins of the largest and best trained military in the world. Especially when the power is unleashed and
over a hundred thousand non-combatants die. That'll leave a stain on the ol' legacy.
I don't think good ol' George will be known as a very good craftsmith of economic policy either. The New York Times is reporting that Stagflation is beginning to rear it's ugly head again. I was a young'n back in the day of Carter, it seemed to me that it took a very long time to plod through that economic funk way back then. Let us hope that in this case, past performance is no indication of future returns.
So on foreign and domestic fronts, George W. Bush is by far a more "Miserable Failure" than Carter could ever claim to be. At the very least Carter was able to get Isreal and Egypt to sign a peace treaty. Bush can't even find a 6'5" arab terrorist. Somehow, in retirement, I think Bush would find a way to be proud of his failures and convince himself that failure was indeed the ideal worth attaining.
