As Bush pushes to end the estate tax for the rich, as he pushes for billions in "aid" for oil companies, very quietly in the background he is also working on getting rid of the tax deductions that benefit average Americans.
The San Jose Mercury News published a small article on what is going on, here is the link:

As taxpayers recover from finishing their annual filing chores, a presidential commission studying the tax laws has reached the conclusion that there are too many deductions and credits.
Read further and you will see that what this commission is talking about is the mortgage deduction, educational deductions and the child tax credit for starters.
I read Bonddad's diaries everyday, and hope he sees this one and puts his two cents in on this. My take? This is another example of how this administration is going after the middle class, looking for tax revenue from those who can least afford it while not expecting those who have the most in this country to contribute anything to our society.
If nothing else this should be brought up by the DNC and EVERY elected Democrat in this country, this should be used as an endless talking point about who in this country will be expected to pay for the services we all use, about fairness and the continued attack on those of us in the middle by this admnistration.
With the GOP in control of all parts of our government, taking these deductions away piece by piece, one here and there, could very well happen. In my opinion, this is a golden opportunity for the Dems to point out, in a soundbite, who is going to be asked to pay the way for this country.
