A few days ago, the Daily Kos community got wind of a high school that gave a 10-day suspension to a boy for talking to his mother on his cell phone. His mother is serving in Iraq, and the boy had no way of knowing if he'd ever get to speak to her again.
Thanks to a diary on this subject, many Kossics emailed the heartless principal, and she has now backed down. The suspension has been reduced to 3 days. That's still too much in my book. This kid didn't hurt anyone. But it's far more reasonable than what this principal tried to get away with.
This shows the kind of impact we can have when we roll up our sleaves. Thank you to all who helped.
