Today the Nashville Tennessean editorial page, which in 2000 endorsed Frist for re-election to the Senate, calls him out:
Judicial independence should be first priority
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist either doesn't understand the separation of powers in the Constitution or he's willfully ignoring the need for judicial independence by insisting on pressing President Bush's judicial nominations at any cost.
Even more of his Republican colleagues are now coming forward to question whether the win-at-all-costs philosophy Frist and the Republican leadership have adopted doesn't threaten Congress' ability to act as well as judicial independence. Frist has pledged to bring up at least one nomination on a parliamentary maneuver to prevent Democrats from using the filibuster to block a vote on the nominee. Apparently, Republicans are allowed to maneuver, Democrats aren't.

Perhaps we should all call Dr. Bill's office and suggest he heed the newspaper that endorsed him for a second Senate term!
