Congratulations newly elected US Senator John Thune, thanks to you, South Dakota is earmarked to lose it's Air Force Base.....representing 2% of South Dakota's GDP.

Now if Tom Daschle would have been re-elected, at least South Dakota would have had a chance. I hope every South Dakotan that voted for Thune (and Bush) now is happy. I am glad that Bush received 60% of the vote from South Dakota. It is great that HIS group recommended closing the base. Remember, this presidency is not about financial situations, you just have to suck it up and swallow hard.
Any other reports of Base Closings? Grand Forks, ND is also on the list. List is due out at 10:30 et.
Update [2005-5-13 10:26:58 by jalapeno]: here is the complete list. Thanks Rummy for affecting so many people. http://www.groovitude.net/crap/closingslist.pdf
Update [2005-5-13 10:48:37 by jalapeno]: After looking at the list, over 50% of the cuts in numbers of people will be at the expense of the Grand Forks Air Force Base (ND) and the Ellsworth Air Force Base (SD). Over 20 years this will save the US $49 billion. We know a way to save $82 billion in one year right?
