I played golf today with a lifelong friend. We have lived miles apart for the past forty years or so and have had little face-to-face contact. Recently we have both moved back to our old home town and see each other more often. He is conservative, but not rabid. He worked, for part of his career, as a lobbyist in Washington and in Austin so he is politically astute.
While we played he brought up the judges situation in Congress. He said that he did not agree with many of the positions taken by the conversative appointees, but he thought it was unfair for the Democrats to use procedure to block the President's choices - especially since the filibuster has never been used for that purpose before.
He reads the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and watches network news. He is bright with an engineering degree from Texas A&M and I, a liberal, think the world of him. If he missed the message that we are trying to send out, then nobody is getting it.
