Remember how the Bush Administration is faith based, meaning they create the political realities that they need to gain the advantage? I think it's time to apply this tactic. I'll be honest that I'm not happy with this Senate deal. I think that the best outcome would have been either to defeat the nuclear option, or push through our proposals if we lost the vote and then have the Republicans shoot them down, and I think a lot of people on this website feel the sameway. To us, this compromise looks like a loss
But let's look at it from a faith-based perspective. Dobson and freepers are pissed off as hell. http://dailykos.com/story/2005/5/23/221622/176
They themselves are saying they lost. Who are we to argue with them? Let's take the win, even if it seems to go against our sense of "reality." Politics these days seems to be nothing more than perception and expectations. If we say that Frist was supposed to win the vote yesterday, but this compromise, which Reid proposed earlier, is a clear loss for him, Democrats suddenly don't look so defeated. I know it's disorienting, but you have to let go of reality.
