Update [2005-5-27 22:47:43 by Armando]: From the diaries by Armando. This diary should serve as a companion piece to the discussion in my previous post. Godspeed to our soldier kossack nameless soldier on his way into harm's way. You have my complete support. Godspeed.
A couple of weeks ago, after I found out for absolute certain that I was going to Iraq, I wrote a diary telling all of you that I might be absent more than normal over the next few months. I wrote it a little early in case I wasn't able to get to a computer as often as I would have liked to, but have actually been able to spend a fair amount of time online since then. Since that diary, there has been a literal waterfall of support for me, along with all the other servicemembers, and I would like to think you for both that support and the support that I know you will be giving in the months to come.
When I get on the plane tomorrow afternoon, I will get on the plane knowing that I have some very intelligent, wonderful people watching my back here at home. So many of you have sent me emails and replied to comments I've made simply to let me know that I have your support. Its almost gotten to the point where it's hard for me to participate in conversations because the comments always turn into people wishing me luck. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I appreciate you.
I've made me views on the war clear, there's no nead for me to repeat them here. However, I count myself lucky that, although few (if any) of you support the war, you are still there for the soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors that joined to fight for this country. Unfortunately, it seems that some of the less-inspired Vietman protests have left a bad taste in many American's mouths concerning anti-war protests. It is good that there are those with the courage to stand up and say that because you support the troops you want to bring them home. That support is a message that rings louder and clearer with every protest and rally and I assure you that I am not the only serviceman or woman who hears it. Again, if you would like to keep better track of me more closely than myt postings here will allow (although I can't imagine why) you are welcome to read my blog. Otherwise, remember that I won't probably be on line for awhile so don't feel bad if I don't reply to your comments.
Peace out for now,
Nameless Soldier
