The unleashing of Karl Rove on the topic of 9/11 - truly a sign of desperation by the Bush administration - is a curse for the New Jersey Republican party, which has to win the right wing core over to supporting pro-choice Doug Forrester for governor while at the same time positioning Forrester as a centrist against "liberal" Jon Corzine. & Forrester can't sell the Iraqi War as an antidote to 9/11 in north Jersey's affluent Republican towns, which suffered disproportionately from the WTC attacks; that's simply not on the next governor's agenda. The only national political issues that will play here through November are Homeland Security funding & military base closings (
visit Fort Monmouth), both of which are about New Jersey getting screwed out of money by Washington. Our gubernatorial campaign is concerned with who does what with who's money, not about Bush's fading support in his beloved red states.
