Don't laugh, here is a far-out theory that has some validity.
Here's a bit of history that nobody ever thinks about. Part of Adolph Hitler's ability to sway the German people came from his actual physical resemblance to Charlie Chaplin. No one acknowledges its importance, but Mr. Hitler's image was (on a very basic human level) forever intertwined with the deeply felt trust and empathy developed for the lovable tramp character. This deep confusion occured on a sub-conscious level, so deep that every German adult was unaware of this un-earned personal human response to the German leader.
In the same way, Mr. Bush has an amazingly close resemblance, physically, and through his voice and manerisms, to Johnny Carson. George Bush has personally benefitted from the deep trust and emotional capital earned from the man who made us all feel good late-night for so many years. It's not about Chrisitanity, it's not about conservatism, it's about "Carnak the Magnificent". This suggests that the "Christian Revolution" might be benefitting tremendously from this subconscious emotional "capital".
