I get two diaries per day, yes? OK, here's #2, which I'm sure is how most here will view it.
I'd tell you there's more below the break, but I've found it a mistake to assume Kos users actually read diaries
Most of what gets noticed here is
self-congratulatory crap. The very essence of democracy is
debate, thoughtful discourse that resolves disagreement by
challenging people to think, to view yourself from another's perspective.
The only debate at Kos stems from diaries titled "Why I'm not leaving" or "STOP RUINING KOS."
Much of what passes for political "content" here, thus getting promoted to the top, are diaries espousing popular opinions, subsequently adorned with favorable reviews, nonsensical observations, explanations to nonsensical comments, and objections that get poorly rated for having the temerity not to jump on the bandwagon.
The frequent claim of liberals -- and I am staunchly liberal -- is that we are thoughtful. Clinton said, and I'm paraphrasing, that "when people think, Democrats get elected, and when they don't, Repulicans get elected."
But why are Kos users so afraid to be challenged? I am repeatedly stunned that people here seemingly don't even read diaries upon which they comment.
When I post a diary, and someone responds by claiming I have written exactly the opposite of what I have written, first I assume it's my failure to communicate. But like clockwork, someone posts a subsequent comment that neatly summarizes my point, demonstrating that my time and effort didn't result in something impenetrable.
I posted earlier today. One person picked out a meaningless reference and made an issue of it. Another responded with "didn't like the title n/t." Finally, someone accused me of promoting the very thing I clearly argued against, something thankfully noted and posted by the single person who bothered to think.
Yesterday, I gave Georgia10 a rough time for complaining that Kos was not fulfilling her needs and lashing out at "newbies." Today, I've fallen into the same trap, but fortunately no one knows me and the 4 people who skim this will quickly vote it into oblivion.
But I come here to think, to be challenged, to debate, and to broaden myself by being exposed to an array of opinions, perspectives, and experiences. I come here to shatter the stupor we've been lulled into by the MSM.
Turns out Kos is just a different stupor, FOX News for liberals.
