Senator Joe Leiberman is very proud of himself for being on the vanguard of those Democrats who
attacked Bill Clinton when Clinton ran into some ethical problems regarding a grand jury investigation.
Well, now we have a Republican, Karl Rove, who is in a much more serious ethical jam than Clinton ever was, involving a grand jury investigation into a breach of national security.
Based on the public facts as they are known now, it is clear that Karl Rove intentionally outed a CIA agent for partisan political purposes. Whether it was a crime, we don't know yet. Whether it was unethical -- there is little doubt. It is time for Senator Joe Lieberman (who is up for reelection in 2006, I believe), to apply at least the same standard to Karl Rove as he did to Bill Clinton.
If you live in Connecticut, contact Joe Leiberman and demand that he apply at least the same moral standard to Karl Rove as he applied to Bill Clinton. A statement condemning Rove in moral terms, delivered from the well of the Senate, is the least Senator Joe Leiberman could do to maintain his credibility as a man of even-handed morals.
