Looks like Connecticut legislators are trying to call a moratorium on the practice of seizing property for "economic development." Citing the beliefs that Eminent domain ought to have a real, specific municipal purpose-- that economic development is too much of an abstraction.

what i mean by "socialist doctrine of collective welfare" is that many of the supporters of the decision seemed to be, in no way opposed to the taking of private property, so long as the reasoning behind the taking was "the public welfare." This is a decidedly socialist justification. I would also question how you determine "just compensation" when the market forces are not allowed to act unimpeded.
again, please accept my apologies if I have offended you and you are not a communist. All I meant was the opposition I had received in the past came primarily from persons whose ideology I would classify as strongly socialist.
