I'm not sure if I am reading too much into this, but it seems to me that John Roberts made a fairly overt allusion yesterday to an anti-gay marriage stance. His speech was fairly cookie-cutter until the very last thing he said:
And I also want to acknowledge my children, my daughter Josie, my son Jack, who remind me every day why it's so important for us to work to preserve the institutions of our democracy.
So his family reminds him every day that he needs to preserve institutions of our democracy?
He is even using the typical wingnut wording, insinuating that he has to "protect the institution of marriage."
So am I reading too much into this?
