If there are any journalists involved in the outing of Valerie Plame, they need to be doing the perp walk.
I'm not going to dress this diary up with fancy words. Here's the questions I want asked:
Why isn't Robert Novak standing in the unemployment line, let alone under a Federal indictment for treason? His earlier testimony before the Grand Jury isn't passing neither the laugh or smell test.
Why isn't Tim Russert doing what he can to clear up this mess, since it appears to be an attempt to implicate him in it? What would his father, that paragon known as "Big Russ" would say?
Why is there the unmitigated attempt to turn Judith Miller into a martyr? A martyr is someone who suffers or dies for what is right. Judy Miller hasn't done either. All she did was, as my friend Steve Gillard says, act as the White House Stenographer for the Administration. Does anyone remember that her reporting in the NYT basically championed the Iraqi war? She crowned Ahmed Chalabi as the Architect, only to be discredited when it was learned he was playing both sides of the fence, while ripping off American taxpayers of hard earned money.
Why haven't the whackjob media pundits like Falafel O'Reilly, Vannity, Doggie Diner Look-a-Like Carlson, faced the truth and start asking the questions that should be asked?
Why won't anyone in the MSM call the President, VP and the Cabinet members involved in this vindictive plot "liars"?
Why should Ari Fleischer take the fall, when we all know Fleischer couldn't take a dump without Rove's authorization? Just as Scott McClellan can't take a piss without permission from Rove, either.
And why isn't John Bolton's involvement in this scandal enough to get his nomination to the UN pulled from the table, never to be discussed again, even in a recess appointment? One blogger suggested that Bolton was gun-ho to be UN Ambassador was because he would get diplomatic immunity for any crime he committed and that would include the blowing of the cover of a CIA undercover agent.
While I'm at it, we should be vigilant and not let the cockroach from Texas (Tom DeLay), embroiled in ethics charges up to his horses' rear end, out of the line of fire, either. For all we know, he could have a hand in blowing up the Plamegate affair to take the heat off his ass.
For the last five years, the MSM let Americans know how damned partisan they are, to the point of being derelict in their duties to report the news, unbiased, and in an objective manner - just as in the days of Woodward and Bernstein. These days, any piece of fluff story; any missing white girl story, tends to push issues like Treason and violations of Federal law off the front page where it belongs.
Honest journalists are slimed, slandered and eventually forced out of their jobs. They spin more than Linda Blair's head did in "The Exorcist".
BTW, where the hell is Darth Cheney? Anyone notice how Bill Frist is trying to stay under the radar these days? Or Denny "never met a ham sandwich I didn't like" Hastert?
Maybe we've become too numb or too bitter to be outraged. But this is also the time to keep on turning up the flame. I'm going to the DSM Town Hall meeting in Oakland tomorrow and will post a diary here on Monday, if not sooner.
Who knows what will be the outcome of all of this. But I remember Watergate, even though I was a kid - I remember on a daily basis, my father coming home from work to turn on the TV to see "which bastard did they get today?" You could hear the glee in his voice when they got Spiro Agnew, as he told my mom, "Just a matter of time, baby, before they put the cuffs on Nixon!"
I will say this; though my father was denied seeing Nixon doing the perp walk, he was equally joyful when he saw Nixon hightailing it out of the White House "like the punk he was". My father wanted television cameras to film the FBI squad car coming for Nixon, and take him out of the White House. Will our generation be treated to it in the case of the Bush Administraion?
I live in hope.
