On the official ballot and voter handbook for CA next year, Attorney General Bill Lockyer changed the name of an anti-gay bill that will be put to the CA voters from: the "Voter's Right to Protect Marriage Initiative" to a much more accurate: "Marriage: Elimination of Domestic Partnership Rights" .
He made this change because, despite the title , the measure actually devotes more space to partnerships to marriage.
Of course, the backers of the bill are now suing him....

You can also thank him for his truth in advertising approach to the official ballot. The selling of initiatives using summaries and titles that are selective and grossly misrepresentative of what the actual law would do is an abuse of the democratic process.
