I've heard conflicting information about the efficacy of voter registration drives. In an ideal world, one would be approached by a voter registration volunteer every few months, resulting in over 90% of eligible voters in the nation registered and up to date. But in reality, are voter registration efforts really worth it? If people can't bother to get registered at the DMV or on their own, are they really ever going to show up at a polling place? Can anyone cite a study on this? Because if registration drives are worth our while, we should be out there every day, not just in the months leading up to an election. Thoughts?
