Montana Senator
Conrad Burns is battling for his political life.
Enmeshed with sleazeball lobbyist Jack Abramoff and either lying or completely out of control of his own staff, he can't raise money. At least one of his Democratic opponents, Jon Tester is being championed by netroots, and most likely can raise money.
Now, the
Montana Democrats have launched an ad (viewable over at
Crooks and Liars) to weaken him further for whoever the eventual
Democratic nominee is.
What's the Republican response? Do they refute the charges, and defend their standard bearer in the marketplace of ideas? Why, no, perish the thought. That's what we have lawyers for...
They threaten a frivolous lawsuit to try to intimidate station managers from airing the spot.
It's hard to hide all that Yellow behind a lawyerly skirt, but they're going to give it a go. Utter Cowards, just like their Chimperial Leader, they'd rather look like heros than do anything remotely heroic. Might break a nail.
FTR, here's a copy of the letter the Montana Democratic Party sent in response to the OYE Party's threats.
