By now, Kossacks, we've all been regaled by tales of chicken hawk radio buffoon Mike Gallagher and his merry -- albeit tiny -- band of pro-Bush yahoos chanting "We don't care!" in front of Cindy and 900 white crosses.
My jaw dropped when I first learned of this behavior, and I was moved to write KRLD through their main website.
This morning, I got their reply.
More below:
First, my e-mail to them:
Please make sure Mr. Gallagher lets his listeners know when his sons will be shipping out for Iraq. Given the depth of his support for this war and George Bush, I feel certain that Mr. Gallagher -- a man of integrity, no doubt -- is committed enough to encourage his children to enlist.
After all, buses and demonstrations without actual commitment are just lipservice, aren't they? Otherwise, he really is the scumsucking, military-costume wearing chickenhawk he now appears to be.
Today, the response of KRLD News Directo Steve Mace -- and I'm leaving his e-mail address intact in case some of the rest of you wich to join me in letting him know how you feel:

Melody,
I would suggest that Mike and his supporters traveled to Crawford to do exactly what Cindy Sheehan is doing -- voicing their beliefs through peaceful demonstration. That said, thanks for passing along your thoughts regarding his actions.

News Director
My follow-up with Mr. Mace:
Thank you.
I agree - peaceful demonstration is a wonderful thing.
Somehow more profound when engaged in by those with actual skin in the game - not simple military costumery.
Again, we look forward to learning more about the enlistment and deployment dates of Mike's children.

Shortly thereafter, I received a second e-mail from KRLD, this time from their Director of Operations, Tom Bigby. Again, I'm including Mr. Bigby's e-mail address in case you'd like to join me in letting him know how you feel about chickenhawk Gallagher's chanting in Crawford on Friday night:

I was following along pretty good, till you started the name calling...you lost me...my e-mail has an edit button, just as your radio does..Sorry we don't make you happy, but I don't deal with name calling at my desk..

So...in for a penny, in for a pound, I responded:
I'll respond as Mr. Gallagher & Co did to the grieving mothers of our war dead:
"We don't care! We don't care! We don't care! We don't care!"
Thought some of you might be interested in sharing with Mssrs. Mace and Bigby your opinions of chickenhawk, grandstanding DJs telling the mothers of our war dead that they simply don't care.
