The point is this: given that, by the numbers Gore won Florida in 2000 ...
... and given that this was little reported (and certainly not trumpeted) in the mainstream press, and given (for example) the later shenanigans of Ohio 2004 -- including the long lines in Democratic precincts, the exclusion (on trumped up exuses) of neutral obsevers from the tallying process -- the list goes on --the GOP has now a vested interest in stolen elections, and will work hard to keep on stealing.
Democratic control of one congressional chamber or the other means investigations, which Republicans can ill afford. All the talk of organization and fund raising and recruiting good candidates and getting the word out and opinion swinging our way about the war -- doesn't amount to a hill of beans without fair elections. We ignore this at our peril.
