So I am watching Bill O'Reilley talk to a Fox financial analyst about price gouging at the pumps.
The analyst says that it's the 41cent tax that should go.
O'Reilly says: we need that tax, that is where the money for our roads comes from.
My mouth hangs open.
He continues by calling for the oil company fat cats to REDUCE their salaries by 20% to help lower prices at the pump.
I am cleaning out my ears and my husband and I are
staring at each other in disbelief.
When the analyst starts to defend the price by comparing the gas prices to the cost per gallon of mouthwash or for a ticket to the movies Bill says (get this) 'I can forgo the movies, and I don't need mouthwash, people need to heat their homes and need to gas up their cars.'
He called the guy "capitalist trash".
Then he called for people to NOT buy gas on Sundays and to conserve.
(This is from memory, everything is paraphrased).
So, is this the beginning of the end...of the corporatist GOP?
[Update] Obviously, I don't watch "The Factor" much, looks like this isn't such a deal, and that he supports the gas tax to avoid the estate tax...Whew, things are making more sense now.
